Woman with a golden bag

This candid portrait taken at Grand Central Station in New York City brings memories of a woman walking away: from friends I was never to see again when our paths  unintentionally diverged, to a dearest friend I lost to cancer whose life remains luminous in my memory, to the simple exchange of a "see you later" each morning my wife and I part ways for the day and I just stand there each now and then dumbfounded by my luck, to just seeing everyday women or the women in my clan carve out paths for themselves and against all odds gently stride ahead.

There is an understated effortlessness to her walk, and in this photograph perhaps I was able to imbue the painterly aura I was striving to achieve, which gives me a sense of someone disappearing from view and into a golden ether. What is in her bag? Where is she going? How fair her walk.
